Charlie Bengel, Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of RE/MAX Allegiance, one of the top 25 residential real estate brokerages in the United States and the number one selling RE/MAX franchise worldwide four of the last five years (2009, 2008, 2006, 2005).
Bengel, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1998 and joined RE/MAX Allegiance in 1999. He has held virtually every sales and operations position throughout his tenure with the company, to include Assistant Property Manager, Property Manager, Director of Property Management, Sales Associate, Team Member, Team Leader, Broker/Manager, Branch President, Division President and Chief Operating Officer.
Before being promoted to CEO in 2008, Bengel, Jr. oversaw the Horizons and R/A Divisions of the company, encompassing the supervision of eleven offices with over 400 sales Associates. The divisions had more than 4,000 transactions with a sales volume exceeding $1.8 billion in 2007, placing them in the top sixty real estate companies in the country had they been an independent company.
As managing broker of the Alexandria West sales office, Bengel, Jr. personally supervised 100 Associates with over 5,500 transactions and a sales volume of nearly $1.5 billion.
In 2009, Bengel, Jr. worked to increase RE/MAX Allegiance’s Children’s Miracle Network participation level to $135,000 in donations, the highest among any RE/MAX brokerage in the Central Atlantic Region, and and increase of 1,500 percent from 2008.
Bengel, Jr. is a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Accredited Buyer Representative Manager (ABRM) and Certified Internet Professional (e-PRO). He has served as a member of the CRS Presidential Advisory Group and is a member of the local Children’s National Medical Center RE/MAX Advisory Group and RE/MAX International’s Premier Broker Group.
Bengel, Jr. has served on many REALTOR® boards and committees at the local, state and national level.
He has served on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors since 2009 and was inducted into NAR’s service fraternity, Omega Tau Rho, in 2010.
Bengel, Jr. is a graduate of the Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR) Leadership Academy and has served on the VAR Managers Council, Professional Development Advocacy Group and the Core Competencies Work Group. He was elected to the VAR Board of Directors in September of 2009 and continues to serve VAR in that capacity today. He was recently inducted into the VAR Honor Society for 2009.
Bengel, Jr. has served the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS® (NVAR) as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, Grievance Committee and Standard Forms Committee.
