On the weekend of September 19-20 Martin Johnson, of the Burke Office, traveled to Bluefield, Virginia to participate in two NRA Action Pistol Tournaments. These were each stand alone back to back tournaments, with the NRA Regional held Saturday and the Virginia State Championships held on Sunday. Shooters from Canada to Louisiana and Virginia to California attended these registered matches. Registered matches must adhere to higher levels of officiating, scoring and standards than other matches, as candidate record scores can become National Records. For this reason, added pressure is upon the shooters.
There are 3 Divisions of guns. One is Open Guns, whereby unlimited modifications can be done to the gun, and the gun may have a scope, recoil compensators and other enhancements. There is also a Metallic Sight Gun Division in which those guns can be modified, but they can not have a scope or recoil compensators. Then there is the Production Gun (factory, off the shelf stock) Division where the guns can not be modified and they can not be special target type guns. I used a revolver that I shot with when I was on the Police Department in the late 1970’s in this Division.
I am pleased to announce that Martin placed 4th and 3rd respectively Overall in the Open Gun Division, 3rd & 5th respectively Overall in the Metallic Gun Division and WON the Production Gun Divisions Overall for both tournaments and is the Virginia State NRA AP Production Champion. At the Saturday Tournament, Martin fired a new National Record in the falling Plate event. On Sunday, he tied his new National record from the day before, and fired scores worthy of 4 more NRA National Records in NRA Action Pistol. So, 5 NRA National Records, not bad for a weekend retreat from a full time Straight Shooting REALTOR, just another day at the office for a RE/MAX Allegiance agent.
